A Jolly, Happy, Wonderful, Fortunate, Inspiring, Loving, Caring, Restful, Fulfilled, Merry CHRISTMAS!!!

It’s funny to say this, but I enjoy Christmas so much more now than I used to when I was younger. I guess back than all the gifts, consumerism and all the must do were too overwhelming. Nowadays most of my Christmas are spent just my husband and I. We don’t buy any gifts to each other as we have an agreement that any occasions were we would normally buy gifts we instead travel somewhere. We cook what we love to eat, watch meaningful Christmas movies and have a walk around Christmas day see the deserted streets and the filled homes. I guess is not so much the stress free Christmas that I have nowadays that I love so much. I miss my family a lot around this time and wish I could be with them.

But what I really enjoy is the build up specially one or two days before Christmas were it seems we all get into the spirit. It’s the smile on people’s faces to complete strangers. It’s the joyful Merry Christmas wished to one another. It’s the wish to have family and loved ones around us. And even the ones that can not have them around, as myself but still have that remembrance of them full of love and joy. It’s the time when we all feel more compassionate and giving. We feel inspired to help the ones that are not as fortunate as we are. Our hearts are open and it’s easier to forgive, be patient, loving, kind...

And nothing can beat that strong feeling of holidays and time off to enjoy ourselves everyone at the same time. Is like we are all wrapped in a blanket of positive, joyful, loving feelings like no other time of the year. Oh and I love that so much…

I wish you a Merry Christmas and may this time be so filled of all good things that you are able to remember them in the months to come. May you understand and value what is truly important at this time and share it with all around you.

Um Alegre, Contente, Maravilhoso, Fortunado, Inspirador, Tranquilo, Repousante, Realizador, Feliz Natal!!

É engraçado dizer isso, mas eu gosto do Natal muito mais agora do que costumava quando eu era mais nova . Eu acho que antigamente todos os presentes , o consumismo e tudo o que se “deveria” fazer era muito opressivo. Hoje em dia a maioria dos meus Natais passo apenas com meu marido. Nós não compramos nenhum presente um ao outro já que temos um acordo que todas as ocasiões em que normalmente compraríamos presentes ao contrário viajamos para algum lugar . Cozinhamos o que gostamos de comer, assistimos filmes de Natal com mensagens inspiradoras e passeamos ver as ruas desertas e as casas cheias . Eu acho que não é tanto o Natal livre de stress que eu tenho hoje em dia que amo tanto . Sinto muita falta da minha família nessa época e gostaria de poder estar com eles.

Mas o que eu realmente gosto é a expectativa especialmente um ou dois dias antes do Natal quando parece que todos nós entramos no espírito. É o sorriso no rosto das pessoas para desconhecidos . É o Feliz Natal alegre desejado um ao outro. É o desejo de ter familiares e amigos ao nosso redor. E mesmo os que não podem tê-los por perto, como eu mesma , mas carrega a memória deles cheia de amor e alegria. É o momento em que todos nós sentimos mais compaixão e doação. Sentimo-nos inpirados a ajudar os que não são tão afortunados como nós somos. Nossos corações estão abertos e é mais fácil perdoar , ser paciente, amoroso, gentil ...

E nada pode bater aquele sentimento forte de férias e tempo livre para nos divertir todos ao mesmo tempo. É como se todos nós fossemos envoltos por um cobertor de sentimentos positivos, alegres e amorosos como nenhuma outra época do ano . Ah, e eu amo tanto isso ...

Desejo-lhe um Feliz Natal e que seja tão cheio de tantas coisas boas que você possa lembrar-se nos próximos meses. Que você possa entender e valorizar o que é verdadeiramente importante neste momento e compartilhar com todos ao seu redor.

The Naked Tree

Passing by this tree I stop and look at it stunned. Striped out of all its leaves as if someone had taken out its clothes. All spread over on the ground underneath as proof of all she had let go of. Naked and vulnerable. But this surrender of all the unnecessary for the cold months ahead is what will make her stronger and survive until the spring comes again.

This tree frankness is a strong living example to anyone. When difficult times come if we could release all that doesn't serve us. Would make us stronger and ready to blossom when the time is right. Becoming plain and truly genuine beings.

All we need is within our very own cores.

Only if we were just as brave as the trees around us…

A Árvore Nua

Passando por essa árvore eu paro e olho para ela surpreendida. Despida de todas as suas folhas como se alguém tivesse tirado suas roupas. Todas espalhadas sobre o chão debaixo dela como prova de tudo o que ela tinha deixado para trás. Nua e vulnerável. Mas essa rendição de tudo que era desnecessário para os meses frios à frente é o que vai fazê-la mais forte e sobreviver até que a primavera chegue novamente.

Esta franqueza da árvore é um exemplo vivo e forte para qualquer um. Quando os tempos difíceis chegam se pudéssemos apenas liberar tudo o que não nos serve. Iria nos tornar mais fortes e prontos para florescer quando a hora chegasse. Tornando-nos seres simples e verdadeiramente genuínos.

Tudo o que precisamos está dentro de nós mesmos.

Se apenas fossemos tão corajosos como as árvores que nos rodeiam ...

Once a Scout, Always a Scout!

All through my life until a few years ago I was part of a Scouts group. It’s said that once a Scout always a scout… I can say that all those years made a strong impact in all areas of my life. I’m so grateful for all I learned and experienced which I probably would never done so if it wasn't for this wonderful movement. And more important the people I met over the years which until this day are the best friends I have…

“On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to my country,
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law”

If only every person in this world had promised and keept up with it…

Maybe if that is too much, we could just try one simple rule we used to follow “Always leave a place better than you found”. That meant that it didn't matter who was responsible for the mess you’d always try your best to leave it better for the next person. Our environment and the future generations would appreciate that so much…

But what if we step up and try to apply that to the people we meet everyday? Could we always leave people better than when we met them? That doesn't mean trying to change them to match your expectations of how they should be but to offer something that may bring some light to their life. That may be a simple smile, kind words, a kiss or hug, an acknowledging look, understanding, consideration, listening and sometimes just being silent by their side…

That way we may be able to live up to the original form of that rule, written by Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, the father of scouting: "Try and leave this world a little better than you found it."

Uma vez escoteiro, sempre escoteiro!

Durante toda a minha vida até poucos anos atrás eu fazia parte de um grupo de escoteiros. Diz-se que uma vez escoteiro sempre um escoteiro ... Posso dizer que todos esses anos tiveram um impacto forte em todas as áreas da minha vida. Eu sou muito grata por tudo o que eu aprendi e experiências que provavelmente nunca teria tido se não fosse por este movimento maravilhoso. E, mais importante as pessoas que conheci ao longo dos anos, que até hoje são os melhores amigos que tenho ...

“Prometo pela minha honra fazer o melhor possível para:
Cumprir meus deveres para com Deus e minha Pátria;
Ajudar o próximo em toda e qualquer ocasião;
Obedecer à Lei Escoteira”

Se apenas todas as pessoas neste mundo tivessem prometido e mantido essa promessa ...

Talvez se isso seria demais, podemos apenas tentar uma regra simples que costumávamos seguir "Sempre deixe o lugar melhor do que você encontrou". Isso significa que, não importa quem foi o responsável pela bagunça sempre tentaria o seu melhor para deixá-lo melhor para a próxima pessoa. Nosso meio ambiente e as gerações futuras apreciariam tanto isso...

Mas e se subirmos uma etapa e tentarmos aplicar essa regra para as pessoas que encontramos todos os dias? Será que podemos sempre deixar as pessoas melhores do que quando as encontramos? Isso não significa tentar mudá-los para atender às nossas expectativas de como eles devem ser, mas para oferecer algo que pode trazer um pouco de luz às suas vidas. Pode ser um simples sorriso, palavras gentis​​, um beijo ou um abraço, um olhar de reconhecimento, compreensão, atenção, ouvir e às vezes apenas ficar em silêncio ao seu lado ...

Dessa forma, poderemos ser capazes de viver de acordo com a forma original da regra, escrita por Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, o pai do escotismo: "Tente e deixe este mundo um pouco melhor do que encontrou."

Let Easter renew you!

Easter is a time of the year associated since ancient times as rebirth of life in the spring… Despite any beliefs or religion we can all use its renewal symbolism and apply into our lives. Death and rebirth is a constant and enable us to grow and develop. I see it as a time of joy, reflection and search for new beginnings and new ways. As I prepare to celebrate it this year I have gathered some thoughts and feelings I want to let go inside myself and hoping to awaken different behaviours and attitudes as I realise the only way to make a better world is through bettering ourselves…

I hope one day I live in a society where people are not labelled and judge by categories that are never true to who they really are. We all different in infinite ways and race, gender, country of origin, sexual orientation, job, religion, wealth and others would never represent the complexities of each individual…

I hope one day I see through attitudes and words from others not taking it as a personal offence but accepting that they are a result of each ones individual experiences and challenges. And in this way expand my understanding and being more able to help in a sincere way…

I hope one day I can give up the need to be right, have the final word or find an experience where we were more or less in a matter. This way avoiding so many unnecessary conflicts, creating collaboration, self-assurance, learning new things and finding harmony…

I hope one day I notice that everyone has something to share and teach us if only we are open to it. That everything and everyone we meet can bring us growth and new perceptions. If we free ourselves of the automatic pilot of our routines the lessons are everywhere…

I hope one day I won’t find comfort in being a victim and accept that there are so many sides to all stories. That we can empower ourselves and turn things around if we just don’t let to be caught in our excuses, personal stories and tragedies…

I hope one day I understand that the strength of this world is in all our differences and stop trying to be normal and fit someone else’s mould. Allow myself and others to be different with no judgements..

I hope one day I accept that happiness and peace are inside myself and I can not transfer or expect it from others. Stop living my life with so many expectations from things and others and accept any situation as opportunities…

I hope Easter brings you dreams worth fighting for!
